US - GERMAN COLLABORATION: Effects of weak applied currents on memory consolidation during sleep

This collaborative project combines theoretical and experimental approaches to investigate the crucial empirical link between applied electric currents and oscillatory EEG activity associated with plastic changes in brain function. The ultimate goal is to explain how can weak electric currents, that appear insufficient to modulate excitability or plasticity in quiescent neurons, exert such a powerful effect on oscillations and learning.
