Self-organizing patterns in spatial evolutionary games
György Szabó
Spatial predator-prey models with many species will be used to demonstrate the large number of possible solutions (henceforth associations) that can occur on the two-dimensional lattices. These associations have proper spatio-temporal structure and their competition yields a large variety of behaviors. For example, the cyclic dominance between these associations results in different self-organizing patterns that can ensure the survival of all species. It will be shown that the formation of self-organizing patterns is related to some possible mechanisms that can be tuned by diffusion and different invasion rates. Finally we demonstrate that the above concepts become useful in the interpretation of results occurring in spatial Prisoner's Dilemma games with punishing players.
