INGESTIVE BEHAVIOUR: HOMEOSTASIS AND REWARD

 

DFG project  "Using machine learning to identify multivariate neural determinants of food choice in the human brain" in the SFB 134 "Ingestive Behaviour: Homeostasis and Reward" (project C06)

 

Overabundance of energy dense food in industrialized nations promotes the tendency of people to eat beyond their required energy demands and is a major reason for the dramatic rise in obesity. 

In this project we will combine event related fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) with conventional and state-of-the-art machine learning approaches to investigate the neural determinants of immediate food choice and long-term eating behavior in humans under different homeostatic, sensory-hedonic, cognitive and socio-habitual conditions.
