Information technology for active perception (Itap)
Information technology for active perception (Itap) was our first research project on gaze guidance. For recent developments, see this site.
The main idea is that the way we actively look (the pattern
of eye-movements usually called scan-path) is an as
important image attribute as are color and brightness and
that this new image attribute needs to be sensed and
displayed, and also processed, like the more traditional
attributes are. To "display" the new image attribute, we
will guide the gaze of the viewing person according to a
given scan-path. This can be used for better visual
communication and interaction.
Itap research supported by the German Federal Ministry
of Education and Research as part of the interdisciplinary
project ModKog.
